Bismarck (N.D.) three-star offensive tackle Jack Shaffer announced on Tuesday evening that he has switched his commitment from Iowa State to Washington.
Standing 6-foot-7 and weighing 320 pounds, Shaffer had originally committed to Iowa State on April 24 but has now decided to join Coach Jedd Fisch and the Washington Huskies.
Shaffer is ranked as the No. 37 offensive tackle and No. 2 overall player in North Dakota for the 2025 recruiting class according to the On300. He is also the No. 1,047 player overall in the 2025 class based on the On3 Industry Ranking, which averages rankings from all four major recruiting services.
With Shaffer’s commitment, Washington now has 27 players in its 2025 recruiting class, which currently ranks No. 21 nationally in the On3 Industry Team Recruiting Rankings.
Fisch and his staff have quietly put together a solid recruiting class throughout the summer, including securing commitments from eight top-tier prospects.
In addition to Shaffer, Fullerton (Calif.) Troy four-star tight end Vander Ploog joined the Huskies on June 25. Ploog, ranked No. 152 overall in the On300 and No. 10 among tight ends, was drawn to Washington by the guidance of tight ends coach Jordan Paopao. Ploog praised Paopao’s track record of developing NFL talent and the family-oriented culture at Washington.
Also committing to Washington were Spanaway (Wash.) Bethel four-star linebacker Zaydrius Rainey-Sale, who is ranked No. 140 overall in the On300 and No. 1 in Washington, and La Verne (Calif.) Bonita four-star athlete Dylan Robinson, who sits just behind at No. 143 overall.
Bradenton (Fla.) IMG Academy four-star wide receiver Raiden Vines-Bright, who is considered one of the top-25 wide receivers in the On300, and Pleasanton (Calif.) Archbishop Riordan four-star wide receiver Chris Lawson round out Washington’s receiving corps.
Other notable commits include San Jose (Calif.) Valley Christian four-star interior offensive lineman Champ Taulealea, Auburn (Wash.) Riverside four-star linebacker Jonathan Epperson, Phoenix Mountain Pointe four-star safety Rylon Dillard-Allen, and Santa Ana (Calif.) Mater Dei three-star quarterback Dash Beierly.
